EXPERIENCE AMAZING WILDLIFE!
Tours & Rates
Sitka’s unique position located on the outer coast of Baranof Island exposes it directly to the notoriously unforgiving Gulf of Alaska. This exposure creates the perfect marine environment for migrating humpback whales who feed on the nutrient rich waters of Sitka Sound. Other local wildlife sightings include harbor seals, Steller sea lions, rafts of sea otters, lumbering brown bears, and perched bald eagles. Also be prepared to see up close Sitka’s commercial fishing activities, the culture and lifestyle of Southeast Alaska, remnants from World War II, majestic mountain vistas, hanging glaciers and ice fields, and ancient forests!

Captain Brian will lead your wildlife tour aboard the Quiet Mon. He has over 35 years of boating experience and holds a 50-Ton U.S. Coast Guard license to provide you a safe, but fun, wildlife tour. He has lived in Sitka for almost 30 years and has spent 15 years as a Captain, commercial fishing for salmon in the Sitka area. He studied Natural Resource Management at the historic Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka. Unlike many Captains, he is also an accomplished Biologist (like his father) with several published scientific research papers for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, as well as being cited in various federal research programs; including the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council. Captain Brian loves to share his knowledge and educate passengers about beautiful Sitka!
Your wildlife tour Coordinator is Heather. She has over 20 years of boating experience and has lived in Sitka for almost 30 years. Like Captain Brian, Heather studied Marine Biology at the historic Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka. She spent 15 years as a Research Biologist, 5 of which were in the Alaskan bush, and has several published scientific research papers for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council. An avid photographer, basically born with a camera in her hand, Heather has been taking photos for 35 years. Heather will ensure your booking experience is easy, efficient, and thorough!
